{"id":1724,"date":"2013-09-18T09:00:59","date_gmt":"2013-09-18T09:00:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.lesleyelis.com\/elisblog\/?p=1724"},"modified":"2013-09-17T12:19:20","modified_gmt":"2013-09-17T12:19:20","slug":"ignite-an-innovative-approach-to-presentations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lesleyelis.com\/elisblog\/2013\/09\/18\/ignite-an-innovative-approach-to-presentations\/","title":{"rendered":"Ignite: An Innovative Approach to Presentations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lesleyelis.com\/elisblog\/files\/2013\/09\/ignitelogo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1814\" alt=\"ignitelogo\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lesleyelis.com\/elisblog\/files\/2013\/09\/ignitelogo.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"163\" \/><\/a>This summer, I was lucky enough to attend <a href=\"http:\/\/ascd.org\">ASCD\u2019s<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ascd.org\/conferences\/L2L\/2012-about-L2L.aspx\">Leader to Leader <\/a>(L2L) event on behalf of the <a href=\"http:\/\/mascd.org\">Massachusetts affiliate of ASCD<\/a>. \u00a0The purpose of the conference is to bring together affiliate leaders and members, building capacity and fostering collaboration. \u00a0During this event, ASCD staff and affiliate leaders shared Ignite sessions, which are, by definition, five-minute presentations that are comprised of 20 slides, each displayed for exactly 15 seconds. The slides move forward automatically, despite the presenter\u2019s readiness, which creates a very quick, engaging, and dynamic atmosphere. \u00a0The slides often display visuals, as opposed to traditional text-based presentations. \u00a0The Ignite structure forces presenters to be succinct and clear, in addition to necessitating movement, energy, and preparedness. If you are interested in learning more, check out the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ignite_(event)\">history of Ignite events<\/a>\u00a0via Wikipedia or some additional information about what <a href=\"http:\/\/igniteshow.com\/\">Ignite talks<\/a> entail.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">I also wanted to share with you the Ignite session presented by Massachusetts ASCD affiliate leader and alum of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lesley.edu\/master-of-education\/educational-technology\/online\/\">Lesley University\u2019s Educational Technology Master\u2019s program<\/a>, Suzy Brooks.
